Referring to your letter No.33A/H.K./2284W(06) of 8th February, I am directed to enclose two drafts (First of Exchange) on the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation for £4,178.11.5 and £1,392.17.2 endorsed in your favour by the Colonial Treasurer, and to inform you that the balance of £19,178.11.5 the drafts for which were through an error on the part of the Chinese authorities made payable to the order of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation will be handed over to you by the Corporation's London Branch on receipt of instructions from Hong Kong forwarded by today's mail. Subsequent remittances will be made to you by the mail after receipt of drafts from Chinese Authorities.

2. I am to agree with the proposal set forth in third paragraph of your letter to refund to the Colony out of the Special Account amounts paid from the General Account for interest on temporary advances made in anticipation of the issue of the Loan.

A further communication will be addressed to you on the question raised in the fourth paragraph of your letter.

4. I take the opportunity of confirming my telegram of today's date sent in accordance with the request contained in the concluding portion of your letter:-

"Referring to your letter of 28th February sending home by mail 7th April demand drafts for 24750".
